Out of all the movies that have been released that serve nothing but propaganda, here’s something to make you think about. To some extent, every movie has its ideology on which the script or plot is based upon. Many times people who subscribe to a certain ideology always choose that particular movie of that particular director, actor, or literature on which they operate. And those who are averse to it tend to bash them and have a certain level of abhorrence towards it, in the present day and time looking at the movies being made in the past decade or so. We see a bulk of leftist content churned out regularly. Movies that are high on emotionalism and low on reasoning and rationalism are being rolled out like never before. The garbage from the west gets carried away and settles in the east. Out of all the movies being made that are based on somewhat similar plots, that have a common template loaded with some vicious agenda “Animal” stands out like a champ.

The plot revolves around the character of Rannvijay(played by Ranbir Kapoor) who by nature is an unapologetic, assertive, dominant alpha who men want to be and women want to date. He is portrayed as a type that Bollywood has stopped writing long back. Balbir Singh (Played by Anil Kapoor) is a business tycoon and is shown as one of the richest men in India. Owing to his busy schedule is not able to take time out for this son. Rannvijay has been shown to have immense admiration and respect for his father. But Balbir doesn’t seem to care and kind of ignores him. This lack of attention makes Rannvijay more desperate to seek his father’s approval. He marries Geetanjali(played by Rashmika) and moves abroad to settle and start a family of his own. Things take a turn for the worse when Balbir gets shot while playing golf and is battling for his life. This hurts Rannvijay and he comes back to India and sets out to find and kill the culprits who shot his father.
Animal stands out in the technical aspects which is the most overlooked factor in Bollywood. Cinematography, screenplay, non-linear storytelling, and cross-cutting between the scenes culminate in making this movie. Overall Animal gives you the vibe of a Quentin Tarantino movie. At least for the violence part. Songs and BGM are the ones who make the movie more interesting to watch and amplify the intensity of the scenes.

Animal is one of those movies that’ll make you take a hard look at the reality of nature. With the current trend where patriarchy is held responsible for anything bad that happens in the world. This movie completely shatters the stereotypes and stands out with a chest-thumping raw masculine tone. This movie shows that when survival is at stake men are the ones who step up. Another highlight of this movie is that it sheds light on the importance of the father-son relationship. Which no movies in the last decade have been able to show. Especially by the mainstream movie makers.
Sandeep Vanga excellently depicts the same on-screen. Coming to the performances Ranbir has set the bar very high for other aspiring actors. He has acted superbly well. And on top of it, Bobby Deol’s cameo perfectly complements the word animal. The superstar written before Ranbir’s name justifies naming it. He has gone to an extreme length in preparation for this role.
Watch the movie Animal to understand what a unique movie is. A typical art story.
