Fighter is a movie as a whole is an action-packed movie. It is high on patriotism, adrenaline, and every other component that a typical nationalist movie has. Directed by Siddharth Anand along with a stellar cast that includes Hrithik as the main lead, Fighter is the movie that you should go for this weekend. It has everything from action to romance to patriotism and the makers have selected an apt time for the release. The story is based on the Pulwama attack where 40 of our soldiers became victims of a ghastly and cowardly attack by some fringe elements belonging to the neighboring country. The movie’s storyline is based on the events post that. Now let’s break the movie down and discuss several aspects and how well this movie connects with the audience.

The plot begins with the formation of a team consisting of the best pilots from all platoons to form “Air Dragons” a special operations force to counter a lurking danger that is being anticipated. Shamsher Pathania (played by Hrithik Roshan) is the center of the movie. We have no idea as to why is it. But it seems that the makers have attempted a Topgun-like film. After the attack on CRPF personnel, the dragons are alert and devise a plan to avenge their death. This is the reference to the Balakot Strike we are talking about. Everything went well till this part as the movie’s main objective was achieved in the first half itself. Real trouble ensues when Azhar Akhtar (played by Rishabh Sawhney) plans an ambush and captures two of the members of the Air Dragons. A personal incident in the past between the CO of Air Dragons Rakesh Jai Singh (played by Anil Kapoor) and Patty has created a rift between them and it only gets worse as egocentric action of Patty leads to his being expelled from the team. Now the question will he be able to get back into the team and save his colleagues?

The plot is engaging but predictable in which new twists could have been added to make it more amusing. Being a Siddharth Anand movie, it is no wonder that the visuals will be best and the VFX effects were done brilliantly. The movie does brilliantly well in the department of technology. The weakest link in the movie was the dialogue. The dialogue in some scenes of the movie seemed too unrealistic and was a misfit in the context.  Scenes that had a message for society were irrelevant and unnecessary and could have been avoided. For a scene where a Muslim pilot who is also a member of the Air Dragon was over-emphasized and was of no use.  As Indian Army has a considerable number of soldiers who belong to the Muslim faith and have laid down their lives for this nation. No proof is required for their loyalty towards the nation. Also, the scene where Minal Rathore (Played by Deepika Padukone) whose backdrop story included the same old narrative consisting of a regressive father who doesn’t want a daughter, and if he has one, he thinks of marrying her off to get rid of her. As society has progressed its high time Bollywood grew out of this mindset and searched for a better backstory for a female character trying to join forces. It would have been okay if these two scenes were excluded from the movie. One of the aspects for which this movie steals the credit is that it is one of the best movies that will make people admire our Air Force. The tech shown in the movie that is used by the Indian Airforce is really good and the operation centre scenes give the movie an international appearance. There are a couple of songs in the movie, which is the best part as it doesn’t help us get distracted from the plot.

In a nutshell, Fighter is a visual treat and all those who are fans of Hrithik are bound to enjoy it. The movie overall will give a good experience to its viewers and would be on your list of movies to watch this weekend.
